Memories for Life…Have Fun With It!

April 15th, 2012

It’s true, planning a wedding can be overwhelming. Every bride has moments when the combination of excitement, anxiety, and of course, pressure descends upon her. There are so many decisions and too many choices.Everyone  in my family has an opinion. Believe me, I’ve been there and hear you! But looking back. I realize how important it is to relish this time. My ceremony and reception were amazing, but I also loved my bridal shower,  taking the engagement pictures at the Falls in Great Falls having our photographer Len Depas leading us, the dress fitting. The journey to the big day is actually as significant as the day itself. To avoid letting stress hasten your stride down the aisle, my advice is to relax and take it step by step. Check off the major things first, like your date, location, and budget and remember  what matters it’s  soon you will be married with the man of your life. So enjoy, have fun with it!

Memories for life. Have Fun With It!

ISES-DC Annual Gala at Gannett/USA TODAY McLean VA

March 25th, 2012

The Greater Washington, DC chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES DC) marked the 17th year for its prestigious Capital Awards Gala tonight at the breathtaking Gannett/USA TODAY Headquarters in McLean VA. Established to recognize and honor the best of the metro DC special events industry, the Gala is produced with the support of generous sponsors and attended by ISES members and their guests.

This celebratory event kicked off at the curb where we’re greeted by valet before we walked the red carpet to the music  of Dixieland band, inside the contemporary event site , we enjoyed cocktails, a specialty drink, passed hors D’oeuvres and music  by a jazz quartet while networking with colleagues prior to the awards being presented. It was an occasion to celebrate the men and women, who do so much to make Washington, DC’s event business successful and to honor a new class of awards winners.  The high light of the evening was an Award Ceremony in which 64 award nominees competed for 18 awards. After the ceremony we enjoyed  three sumptuous dinner buffets while enjoying dinner music in a club lounge setting. It was an exciting and relaxed atmosphere to everyone that culminate with a dessert buffet and dancing at an After Party in the First Amendment Dining Room which was transformed into a club with a creative decor.

We all departed the gala with a silver swag bag of goodies and memories of a truly special event!

Think Green…Happy St. Patrick’s day!

March 17th, 2012

Every year on St. Patrick’s day I become Brazilian/Irish … I enjoy so much getting ready and preparing for the big day. This year we’re so busy working and I had to leave at the last minute thinking about my outfit, because of course you can’t wear the same one from last year!

I am sure you girls get it … guys, perhaps not so much … but anyways … we did the same thing that we do every year … going to our favorite Irish pub … The Old Brogue in Great Falls … five minutes away from our home and enjoying our favorite entertainer … Ted Garber!  Lots of fun … see pics below!

Happy St Patricks Day!

March 13th, 2012

St. Patrick’s Day is just four days away and we’re kicking off our countdown with green recipes you can whip up for the most important meal of the day: Breakfast!

If you’re looking for a lucky breakfast that will send your loved ones over the rainbow for St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve got just the thing for you. This Lucky Breakfast is a great way to jump start your celebration. The idea is so simple, yet so cute. Just fill your festive green cupcake liners with Lucky Charms, donuts, or other delicious breakfast items. Then pair them with a jar or glass of green milk to spruce up the occasion!

It’s incredibly easy to make. Why? Well, if you know how to make the normal version, you’ll know how to make the St. Patrick’s-inspired version as well. As you’re preparing the meal, simply add green dye to the list of ingredients and your traditional breakfast will become an Irish concoction in no time at all.
