It’s Summer…Aloha! Hawaiian Luau

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

It’s summer, and a perfect time to throw an outdoor party and why not a Hawaiian Luau party. Tiki Torch-lit, grass skirts, exotic foods, wild drums and great people, so let’s get started and really top things off at the NRECA Board Summer Luau Reception where we used tropical plants, flowers and a variety of fruits and, of course a Tiki Bar and the Travelling Bean did an outstanding job with their frozen margarita/daiquiri drinks.

Brazil vs USA at FedEx Field

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Brazil is well known as the country of Carnival, Samba, and Soccer (our Futebol) … and talking about soccer, Brazil did an awesome job playing against the USA at FedEx Field this past Wednesday. I was invited by Tim Kerin with Falcon Crest to watch the game at Daniel Snyder’s Suite and got to meet many of the Redskins inner circle, including Bruce Allen, Larry Michael, and Robert Griffin III (everyone calls him RGIII), Brian Orakpo #98 Linebacker

It was amazing seeing all the Brazilian soccer fans taking over FedEx Field – more than 67,619 in attendance and I think half were Brazilian. It was a fun night!

A gift that means a lot! The meaning of gratitude…

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Everyone that knows me understands how much I enjoy shoes.  But this isn’t all about shoes but the meaning behind it.  Trust me, I will explain.

One year ago we booked the wedding of Clarisse and Ryan.  And of course we had them come to have a tasting along with Clarisse’s parents, Marilee and John.

As soon they left our show room in Gaithersburg I received a text message from Merilee Clarisse’s Mom thanking me and letting me know that she had tears in her eyes after she left because she knew that her daughter’s wedding was going to be beautiful.

Since then we have been discussing the wedding details many times over the phone and also in person.   Three weeks ago Merilee sent me a text asking what size shoe I wear.  I thought it was odd but did get back to her saying that I wear size 5 … and she responded OMG (such small feet).  So this week we had to meet again at the Strong Mansion venue at Sugar Loaf Mountain to discuss the final details … and guess what???

Merilee came out of her car with this beautiful box wrapped in silver polka dot paper wrap  that I love and when I opened it … I found a pair of gorgeous purple high-heel shoes exactly like my favorites. Soooo sweet!

The feeling I had wasn’t of happiness for having another pair of shoes, but the feeling that I must been doing something right to receive this. I enjoy what I do everyday so much … and for that I feel blessed.  I am so thankful to be  part of people’s dreams and to help them enjoy their moment stress-free.

I always say that we don’t have to be the biggest caterer in Washington, DC, but we do need to be the best one.  When i founded Superb Cuisines my goals were to create a company with a heart, with passion for food, commitment, friendly and professional service, all coming together where every event is Superb.  Where every client is our first priority and we always keep our promises.  If we can do these things, we will have accomplished our goals.

I hope that I did not bore you with my story,  but this gift meant a lot to me.  It means that we are doing things the right way …

The gift of gratitude

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

It was a pleasure meeting the Evoke team today at their beautiful offices in Silver Spring, Maryland.

We had the opportunity to provide a tasting of our food and introduce Superb Cuisines to one of the best event planning companies in DC.  Our chef Thierry Sanchez prepared six unique courses enjoyed by all. Check out the pics below and the response from Jodi Moraru to my follow up!

It was a pleasure to meet you as well and you clearly have passion for what you do as well as an understanding of using only the best ingredients as evident by the superb tasting we experienced. Your company name is quite appropriate.

We look forward to working with you in the future and many thanks to you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet the EVOKE team.”

VIrginia Gold Cup

Saturday, May 5th, 2012

Today we enjoyed the 87th running of the famous Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase race, at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia. The Virginia Gold Cup is a grand spring tradition  since 1922 and attended by over 50,000 spectators, this race is one of the largest and most popular sporting events in the greater Washington metropolitan area.

Race day featured six hurdle and timber horses races; Jack Russell Terrier races; tent, tailgate and hat contests; and vendor booths for shopping. My husband and I attended last year and now its became part of our social calendar and a lot of fun was had by all, with awesome friends and  great food catered by Superb Cuisines.
