We Will Survive Cancer…Mother’s Day Celebration!

Sunday, May 12th, 2013

Today We Will Survive Cancer celebrated Mother’s Day with a group of 45 brave women and their families.  Superb Cuisines proudly supported the event and the great cause – providing catering services for their lunch reception held at Dewberry life with cancer family center along with many other generous sponsors. As a woman and mother, it was a honor to be there.  Its an inspiration to anyone to watch these women fighting Cancer like a BOSS.

Every year, thousands of families are devastated when a parent is struck down with cancer. Treatment becomes a totally consuming process, and family members, particularly the children have to adapt to a completely new existence and depending on family, friends, neighbors, or even strangers to assist in day-to-day living.

We Will Survive Cancer is making a tremendous impact on these families lives.  But to do so, they need donations of cash, services, equipment, and specialty items to make life slightly less stressful for both the cancer victims as well as their families.

They know the victims have a better chance of recovering if they know their families are being taken care of, and we all can contribute with it.

Doorways for Women and Families-Breakfast in Arlington-VA

It was such a pleasure to be part of this event again. We started very early in the morning (4:00am) to be able to serve 300 people a plated breakfast, but it was certainly worth it. For such a great cause, we would do this any day … and everyday!

Who doesn’t envision a community where all people live free of violence and have safe and stable housing?

Who doesn’t see a future without homelessness – or domestic violence? And it’s why Doorways for women and families offer safe shelter and housing. Life-changing support services. And community advocacy.

Their Approach … there is no single cause of family homelessness, and no single service that can help families overcome their barriers to independence. Family trauma impacts nearly every aspect of family functioning, so their services target to multiple life areas for adults and children. You’ll find services that are comprehensive, family-centered and strength-based.

Their work continues until individuals and families demonstrate skills to sustain independence and family safety – a contrast to many programs with strict time limits on participation. Simply put, they have not succeeded if one family returns to homelessness or unsafe housing.

See pics below-as well as a thank you note from our client.

Hi  Keula & Charla
I want to thank you both for helping Doorways put on an incredible event yesterday.  Our guests had a wonderful time and everything went very smoothly.  Thank you for your support in helping us share the work we do with the community.Thank you,Heather

Caren Merrick’s Fundraiser

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Tonight we supported a political fundraiser for Caren Merrick, a candidate for the Virginia State Senate.  We first met a month back and I was very impressed her passion, her empathy, her focus on what we all want in a representative in the State legislature.

Caren is a strong advocate for entrepreneurs and small business owners, which Superb Cuisines is a big fan of!  We are a small, woman-owned business focused on the Northern Virginia market and I (Keula) live in Great Falls, VA!!!

Caren is a 23-year resident of Northern Virginia and has been an active entrepreneur, helping to create hundreds of jobs in Northern Virginia as co-founder of webMethods, and as a mentor and investor in several early-stage technology companies.  She is an active investor and mentor in nonprofit organizations that help low income and military families succeed in education, work, and life.

Check out these photos and see for yourself.
