Bermuda Vacation…Great Wedding Destination!

Friday, September 7th, 2012

As much I enjoy my work, it’s always so nice to be able to take some days off for vacation and just enjoy my time and recharge my batteries. The last thing we want in this business its to burn ourselves out, especially after a big wedding season that began in May.  Being in the hospitality industry – no matter what happens you always need to stay motivated and excited.

Bermuda was my destination for vacation this year.  A beautiful island located in a British territory, I loved it!!! That could be awesome for a wedding destination….

Speaking of hospitality, the Bermudians really take it seriously.  They make you feel welcome and at home in their small country of 65,000 people – all with such a nice and friendly attitude that made me never want to leave.

Getting to know the whole island – from one side to the other – in half a day riding a scooter through very narrow roads where all the cars and the Bermuda public pink buses use the left side of the road.  It was a little scary and took a little getting used to:-)

I tried famous Bermuda rum swizzle and of course as much I appreciate and enjoy food I could not be in Bermuda without trying their wonderful cuisine. Oh my gosh –everything was to die for.  See the pics below:

By the way, if you there you must go snorkeling.  We found this company online called Snorkel Bermuda.   We decided to go with them because they had such incredible reviews and we did not go wrong because the owner Sonny made our experience just amazing.  I can’t deny that I was terrified to jump for the first time into such deep water because the last thing I wanted was to become a shark food in Bermuda :-):-):-)

The weather was beautiful, we had our own private beach at the Fairmont Hotel, the water was so nice and clear and the sand was pink.  Just a perfect paradise that definitely I would like to visit again someday.  If you’ve never been there I highly recommend it.

Emily & Zac Wedding Reception at Harbor View

Tuesday, August 14th, 2012

I enjoy being a caterer – it’s always a lot of fun and we have a blast everyday meeting great people through our job … catering and helping them to celebrate their most important life events (Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays parties, graduations, baby showers).

This Saturday It was even more special … Superb Cuisines catered Emily & Zac’s wedding reception at Harbor View … they are our youngest couple through all these years in being a caterer in Washington, DC.

I felt so emotional … could not keep the tears … looked at them … their youth, happiness and desire to discover the world together, their genuine love … it made me to travel on the tunnel of the time … they’re so beautiful! I can’t explain it….It seemed that all their 200 guests, friends and family that were there to celebrate this day with them felt the same.

The bride’s Mom Tanya let us know how thankful she was to have us there for her daughter’s big day, and I also got complements from the Groom’s parents that came in person to thank me for everything … letting me know that Tanya had spoke very highly about us. The bride’s Dad came back to us at the end of the day to say how beautiful everything looked!  Everything was just perfect … the weather outside, the gorgeous venue at the river’s edge. What else to ask for? Congratulations Emily & Zac! May you know nothing but joy. From this day forward.

Clarisse & Ryan’s wedding reception at Strong Mansion on Saturday was hot, so Hot, literally HOT … but the 105 degree temps did not take the glamour from our beautiful bride Clarisse … she walked down the aisle looking so gorgeous on her wedding day … the weather was hot, the guests were Hot, everyone was HOT … HOT, HOT, HOT … but people kept the spirit of celebration … hot or no hot, everyone was there for Clarisse and Ryan on their special day.

We had an exciting and busy weekend – with so many events going on at the same time (graduations, weddings, picnics, birthday parties, Father’s Day celebrations). It was nice to see our Superb Power Girls (Irena and Katie) in action!  Our team pulled it off in style … and with the Power Girls taking the lead, I was able to take a break and check out the Dave Matthews concert on Saturday night (go DMB!).

Summer Wedding Reception

Sunday, May 27th, 2012

It’s summer…. when the season simply calls for an outdoor wedding. If you are one of those couples who have decided to include the elements of sun, sand and surf to your special day,let the beach theme inspire you. White would be a great color as your primary motif since it contrasts beautifully with the surrounding sky. Add tropical flowers, stringed seashells and corals to your decoration. Decorate the tables and have centerpieces that correspond with the beach theme as well.

Dominic and Terri Wedding Reception at Newton White Mansion

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

What can I say about this wedding…I could say  sooo much … like it was a beautiful ceremony, how gorgeous the bride looked in her wedding dress … the amazing story about how she got the dress, and how nice and friendly the bride and groom’s family and friends were with our staff … I could go on and on, but the most important thing that I can’t forget to mention is how sweet this bride is.  I liked Terri the day we met.  We understand that planning a wedding can be very stressful and sometimes  can be overwhelming for many brides … but not for Terri.  She trusted us and let us to do our job and be part of her big day.

Terri just became one of my favorite brides :-)  See the pics below of her vintage and romantic wedding theme, the Newton White Mansion was decorated with bunches of gorgeous blooms in vintage elysian vases and jars that were found at markets and second hand stores and the tables were decorated with genuine vintage vases saved and provided by family and friends … how sweet!  Each vase was filled with seasonal flowers and tied with matching ribbons in clusters along the tables, again with candle holders collected by the bride and groom or brought by guests.

Our 4th Wedding Anniversary!

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

Wow…The time flies. I remember the priest telling Scott “son you have your hands full” and he responded “yes sir, I know, bring it on!”  It’s already been 4 years since we got married and it feels like it was yesterday. My heart still beats very fast every time I get to see him and I count the hours until the end of the day to get home just to get to spend a few hours together on our couch till we felt asleep and go to bed recharging and reconnecting to get ready for another day. I am looking forward to the next 50 years by your side baby.

Happy Anniversary!

Tonight we celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary with a wonderful dinner experience with a 15 course meal at Komi in DC and by the way no picture of the food is allowed at the restaurant so you must to go there to check it out. It’s an amazing place!

Spring Wedding….

Monday, March 12th, 2012

The weather’s warming up and everything’s in bloom — what’s not to be excited about? Bring the best of the season to your  wedding reception  by adding a hint of spring. Check spring 2012 fashion color trends to single out the colors that are going to dominate the palettes of some of the most fashionable brides in the spring of 2012. These colors are fun, and there is a shade for every taste, whether you prefer soft pastels or attention-grabbing neons.   As Bridal color’s are not limited to decor and bridesmaids alone, 2012 wedding dresses are just as colorful.

Washington dc wedding reception

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

The color red is often associated with love and romance. What could be a better color to accent your wedding décor? I’m a huge fan of back, white and red . People that know me can tell… my car is black with red seats, our company logo, our trucks, business card and etc….

A black, white and red wedding theme is very elegant and lends itself to a wide variety of decorating ideas.

For Laura and Jay wedding we Incorporated those colors into the centerpieces at guest and bridal tables in several ways. Used elaborate floral arrangements, candles and more to decorate the tables.
